The BGGS P&F Association and the P&F Uniform Shop are delighted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the iconic Girls Grammar hat. The hat has become an important part of the School’s identity—providing all students with a sense of belonging.
In 1923, the Head Mistress, Miss Annie Mackay, organised for two girls from each class to vote on the introduction of a School uniform. This included a straw panama hat for summer and the navy blue felt hat for winter. By 1977, the Board decided that only one hat was required—the navy velour hat with the BGGS band.
The P&F congratulates the three students whose designs are featured on these commemorative tea towels.
